Trump Writes Off Green New Deal As Failed HS Paper, Gets Under Ocasio-Cortez’s Skin

President Trump is no fan of Democrat Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s Green New Deal and spent part of his speech in El Paso, Texas to criticize it.

“It sounds like a high school term paper that got a low mark,” Trump said during the rally, as BizPac Review reports.

“I really don’t like their policy of taking away your car or taking away your airplane flights. Or ‘Let’s hop a train to California,’” the president continued. “You are not allowed to own cows anymore? There are a lot of problems.”

Fox News adds:

Trump derided the Green New Deal – an economic stimulus concept designed to fight income inequality and climate change – as a “massive government takeover over that would destroy the incredible economic gains” the U.S. has made under his administration.

As BizPac Review reports, the comments seemed to get under the skin of the new congresswoman:

His remarks during his first “Make America Great Again Rally” of the year drew cheers from the thousands gathered at the El Paso County Coliseum on Monday, but apparently got under Ocasio-Cortez’s skin. The freshman lawmaker and self-proclaimed Democratic socialist lashed out at Trump on Twitter Monday night.

She quoted a Washington Post article which stated, “Reading the intelligence book is not Trump’s preferred ‘style of learning,’ according to a person with knowledge of the situation.”

President Trump recently trolled Democratic lawmakers and encouraged them to embrace the “brilliant” environmental proposal.

“I think it is very important for the Democrats to press forward with their Green New Deal. It would be great for the so-called ‘Carbon Footprint’ to permanently eliminate all Planes, Cars, Cows, Oil, Gas & the Military – even if no other country would do the same. Brilliant!”

Fox News adds:

The radical legislation has come under fire for its impractical goals as it seeks net-zero greenhouse gas emissions in 10 years, effectively eliminating all fossil fuel energy production as well as nuclear energy, basically rebuilding every building in America and making air travel unnecessary. The socialist dream plan, which tasks the government with providing for anyone who is “unable or unwilling to work,” would be funded by printing more money.

“They’re coming for your money, and they’re coming for your freedom,” Trump told rally-goers. “It’ll never happen. They won’t even come close folks.”
